The building was erected in 1910 by an African-American congregation to replace a smaller frame structure built by freedmen soon after the end of the Civil War. It was restored and rededicated in 2013 as the Burns-Belfry Museum and Multicultural Center.
Wall murals and standing panels tell stories organized by four major themes: Enslavement, Emancipation, Jim Crown, and Civil Rights. Click Here to visit the website of this museum focused on African American History.
