It would be hard to identify a person having more impact on a university, a state or a nation’s conscience as James Merideth served to integrate the University of Mississppi. His courage, patience and tenacity in the face of a riot, marshals and national guards troops being needed to allow him to enroll and attend classes were a strong message to people everywhere.
